Stir Fry Sauce

stir-fryThe secret to a flavorful and aromatic stir fry dish are on the right sauce for the right recipe.  Stir fry sauces are generated according to the type of meat and vegetables used.  Here are a few recipes for you to enjoy using the right amount of stir fry sauces in them.

STIR FRY CHICKEN AND GARLIC SAUCE:

INGREDIENTS:

2 large garlic cloves, minced
¼ soy sauce
¼ cup water
¼ cup honey
2 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into strips
¼ cup chopped green onions.

HOW TO PREPARE:

  • Combine garlic, soy sauce, water, honey, 1 tbsp oil, cornstarch and pepper.  Sit chicken into marinade and mix to coat.  Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours, stirring once or twice.
  • In a large skillet, heat remaining oil.  Using slotted spoon, transfer chicken to skillet.  Sit fry about 5 minutes.  Add the reserved marinade, continue to cook and stir about 30 seconds until thickened.  Remove to platter.  Garnish with green onion.  Serve with snow peas, if desired.  Makes 4 servings.

Here are other sauces that popular for stir frying.

  1. ARGO CORNSTARCH SAUCE:

½ CUP Argo Cornstarch
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tbsp minced fresh ginger root
1 large cloves garlic, minced
½ teaspoon ground red pepper
½ cup soy sauce
¼ cup cider vinegar
2 cups chicken or beef broth
½ cup dry sherry (optional)
½ cup water

HOW TO PREPARE:

  • Combine first 5 ingredients.  Add soy sauce and vinegar.  Shake until blended.  Add broth, sherry and water.  Shake.  Store in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.  May be frozen.
  1. SHRIMP STIR FRY WITH THE SAUCE:

INGREDIENTS:

3 tbsp oil
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
4 oz snow peas
1 cup mung bean sprouts
½ cup green onions
1 pound shrimp

HOW TO PREPARE:

  • Heat 2 tbsp oil over medium high heat.  Stir fry vegetables 2 minutes.  Remove.  Heat remaining 1 tbsp oil over medium high heat.  Stir fry 1 pound shrimp until pink.  Stir in 1 cup of the prepared fry sauce.  Stir and bring to a boil over medium heat for 1 minute.  Serve hot with rice.
  1. CHICKEN STIR FRY:

INGREDIENT:

3 tbsp oil
1 ½ cup carrots, sliced
2 green peppers, cut ½ inch pieces
2 onions, ½ inch wedges
2 whole chicken breast cut into small chunks.

HOW TO PREPARE:

  • Heat to tbsp oil over medium high heat. Stir fry vegetables, for about 5 minutes.  Remove from heat.  Heat remaining 1 tbsp oil over medium high heat.  Stir fry chicken pieces until cooked.  Stir in 1 cup of the previously prepared sauce.  Sit and bring to a boil over medium heat for about 1 minute more.  Serve hot with rice or egg noodles.
  1. STIR FRY AND SAUCE:

INGREDIENTS:  (This will season 4 servings of stir fry)

3 to 4 tbsp sugar
3 to 4 tbsp vinegar
2 to 3 tbsp soy sauce.
Optional: 1 tbsp chopped fresh ginger
1 to 2 cloves chopped fresh garlic
Crushed red pepper to taste

HOW TO PREPARE:

  •  Simmer meat (beef, chicken, pork) cut into bite sixe pieces, in this sauce for about 20 minutes.
  • Add chopped fresh vegetables such as any greens, cabbage, turnips, green onions, snow peas, yellow onions, broccoli, cauliflower, or be creative.  Peach plum or plum jam may be substitute for sugar.
